Meet Michaela PereiraMichaela Pereira was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and is one of five adopted girls in her family. She's fiercely proud of her diverse background and unusual upbringing. The different ethnic backgrounds of the five sisters, and the fact that the family moved often (due to her father's work with the Canadian government), made for an unusual childhood.

Michaela played a variety of roles for Canadian television. She began her entertainment career as a model, then moved on to commercials, documentaries, and rock videos. She subsequently landed a position co-hosting an afternoon magazine show in Victoria, British Columbia, doing weather reports for the evening news, and hosting a weekly entertainment show at CHEK-TV for four and a half years.

TechTV (then called ZDTV) saw her potential and recruited Michaela for what was then a brand-new cable network in May of 1998. Alongside Scott Herriott, Michaela hosted the irreverent and witty "Internet Tonight," a half-hour daily look at news, community, and pop culture online. She also hosted other TechTV programs.

Michaela several times served as guest host/film critic on the highly acclaimed syndicated program "Roger Ebert at the Movies" before landing her a role as a correspondent for the show. She thoroughly enjoyed "sharing the balcony" with Mr. Ebert.

Ms. Pereira now co-hosts "Tech Live," TechTV's daily, live half-hour news and information program with Chris Leary. She enjoys their rapport and looks forward to hearing Chris' stories of the good old days in radio.

When Michaela is not busy exploring San Francisco, she dines with friends and often catches live music performances. She is a voracious reader who enjoys the outdoors and volunteering. Michaela makes frequent trips to Tahoe to give her snowboarding gear a bit of abuse.
