  • U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft announced that the Department of Justice and the FBI, along with officials in 10 other countries, launched a massive antipiracy strike Wednesday. The strike targets sites that illegally distribute "warez" online. There were more than 100 targets worldwide, include 27 in the United States, and more than 100 suspects have been identified.
